Traditional home cooked food is served in the bar & the dining room both at lunchtimes (between 12 & 2.30) and evenings (from 6 till 9). Saturday food is served 12 until 9 p.m. and Sunday food is served 12 until 7 p.m.
Come & try Chef Dan's Brewers Pudding ~ proper suet pastry, Cumbrian beef that has cooked for hours in whichever one of the four cask ales that we have on at the time. Or the fish & chips (in our own beer batter) with 'real' mushy peas. Just the answer after a day on the fells!
Our menus change regularly and daily specials are on offer using the finest Cumbrian produce according to the season, succulent hill lamb and beef, fresh fish and seasonal vegetables. We also have vegetarian dishes.
The oak paneling and traditional fireplace in the bar have remained unchanged since the 18th century. This is a lovely room and you can really get a sense of the prominent role the Inn played in this important market town all those centuries ago.
There is plenty of information available for you to plan your visits to the many local visitor attractions which can be found in the area.
Meet some of our colourful locals & join in the 'banter' at the bar over a couple of pints of Cumbrian ales, especially Friday early doors!
